FORMATION OF COMMITTEE WITHIN LUNGLEI DISTRICT

The Committee & Sub-Committee on SSA Mission, Lunglei District has been formed as follows:-
1.         District Education Committee:-
District Education Committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei District and District Project Co-ordinator, SSA Mission, Lunglei District as Secretary of the committee. These committees have 23 Executive Committee Members from different organizations such as – YMA, MHIP, PTA, MSTA etc.

2.         Circle Education Committee:-
Under the District Education Committee, 2 (Two) Circle Education has been formed as follows:-

1. Circle Education Committee, Lunglei East

Chairman          -           Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Lunglei East, Lunglei
Secretary          -           Circle Education Officer, Lunglei East, Lunglei

1. Circle Education Committee, Lunglei West

Chairman          -           Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Lunglei West, Lunglei
Secretary          -           Circle Education Officer, Lunglei West, Lunglei
Each Committee has about 15 Executive Members each from different organizations such as – YMA, MHIP, PTA, MSTA etc.

3.         Village Education Committee (VEC):-

ACHIEVEMENT  REPORT  OF  S.S.A.  MISSION, LUNGLEI  DISTRICT

The following are the brief reports on Activities and Achievements of SSA Mission, Lunglei District.

1.         Civil Works:-
Under Civil Works, activities like – Repairing of School Building, Construction of Dilapidated Building, Construction of New Schools, Separation Wall, Boundary Wall etc. has been done. During the year 2001 – 2007 under Civil Works the following activities has been completed:-

2.         Mid-Day Meal Scheme:-
Mid-Day Meal Scheme was launched on Lunglei District at 15th February 2006 through SSA Mission, Lunglei District. Under this scheme all Government Managed Primary Schools of the District had been enrolled and rice has been supplied by the District Food & Civil Supply Department of the said District. All this Primary Schools were provided with 1 Cook and also that Schools having more than 100 Students are provided with 2 Cooks each. Conversion Cost @ Rs. 2.125/- per student has been distributed though the District Project Co-ordinator, SSA Mission, Lunglei District. School Education Department and SSA Mission with Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) has made an agreement for the strengthening and improvement of the scheme. Till now fund for Kitchen Shed have been sanctioned for 186 Primary Schools.

3.         FootballAcademy:-
Lunglei District has 18 (Eighteen) FootballAcademy, each Academy has 1 Coaches & 1 Ground man. And also each Academy has 50 Students enrolled in their Academy from different schools around them.

4.         MusicAcademy:-
During 2006 Music Academy was opened at Government Liantawna High School and Baptist Higher Secondary School, Serkawn with an enrollment of 23 Students each.

 5.         Girls Education:-
Under Girls Education, Girls Hostel has been opened under Innovative Activity of Girls Education at Electric Veng, Lunglei since 2006. In this Hostel, 30 identified Girls Child from poor family (Below Poverty Line Family) within the District were enrolled during this year (2007), 7 Students for Primary School and 23 Students for Middle School. This Hostel were looked after by 2 Female Warden and also that all their Fooding and Lodging are Free of Cost. They also learned tailoring and knitting under well and experienced Instructress beyond the School period. 

6.         Intervention for Out of School:
Under Out o Schools Interventions, there are some Interventions of which Four of them may be explained in brief:
1.         Back to School:- This Intervention is meant for the Children of 6-14 are Group coming from poor family, those children are provided with Exercise Books and Schools Uniforms to enable them to attend Regular Class. From this, 487 Children’s of poverty stricken and drop out were looked after.
2.         Remedial Teaching: - This if for Quality Improvement in Elementary Education and is being carried on, since April 2006 in 55 PS and 40 MS and from September 2006 another 65 PS and 45 MS had been added in this intervention. Exercise Books and Honorarium have been provided to these Schools. It is a pleasure to report that the students have a good progress than before. Now we have 3776 Students enrolled under Remedial Teaching.
            3.         Residential Camp:- For this Intervention, 67 Mobile Teachers were engaged for 1696 Children’s who were enrolled in Mobile Schools. Mobile teachers went from place to place for teaching the children who did not attend schools that are scattered around the western part of the district. And also 64 Education Volunteers Teachers have been engaged for Government Primary Schools. These Teachers are provided with Rolled White Board, Textbooks, Exercise Books etc. and other necessary equipments. Many Children of the group were now enrolled in EGS Centres and other schools.
            4.         Bridge Course:- Under this Intervention, 8 Bridge Course Centres have been opened in the remote areas where literacy percentage is so low. Under this intervention the SSA Lunglei District and Mizoram Thalai Kristian Pawl (MTKP) are working together and the MTKP Organizer is designated as Co-ordinator. 256 Children’s were enrolled this intervention and they are provided Text Books, Exercise Books, Chalks, Pencils etc. Bridge Course Students were given Additional Class every day at Morning and night by engaging Volunteer of the Village with an Honorarium of Rs.2,000/-.pm

7.         Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE):- Under ECCE, 55 Pre-Primary Centres had been opened at 55 Government Primary Schools, and 1 Pre-Primary teachers is engaged for each centres with an Honorarium of 1,500/- per month. They are provided Pencil, Sweet, Exercise Books etc.

8.         Integrated Education for Disable (IED) :- In Lunglei District during 2007 we have 1378 Disabled Children’s as tact Programme and Assessment Camp in different parts of the District.. These disable children’s are provided with different kinds of aids like – Crutch, Spectacles, Hearing Aids etc.
